if i want to post a picture on here does it need to be uploaded to a server first?
if it does is there a server on the forum which can be used?
and is it the same for pictures under your name?

War you can attach a picture file (JPEG or GIF formats only) to your posts by :-
Compose a post as normal
Check the box"I want to preview my post and/or attach a file"
Click continue
Browse on your hard drive for a picture no bigger than 100000 bytes and press continue again and your under your member details in your forum post you should see the blue legend "attachment" containing your picture.

You are bypassing the need to having your own webspace on your ISP server and are uploading from your hard drive directly to FW`s server.
Once you have an attachment you can post it directly into the forum (if you wish) by opening the attachment, right clicking over the picture image, click on properties, copy the URL address to your PC`s clipboard, edit your post and then paste in the address, finally adding the [image][/image] tags at either end of it.

Are the images monitered before going live, as I have tried to upload a .gif file and the blue 'attachment' legend apears as described, and I copy and paste the link address but when I tried to view the post only the text is displayed (which should be below the .gif) and when I click the 'attachment' legend I recieved this error message:

The system sometimes throws a wobble with images as attachments,i`ve noticed this with other lads posts when the coding appears very long or complex (ie,if your uploading to FW direct from your hard drive keep the file size small, make sure that file name and file extension are in the correct case, keep the file name as simple as possible)
No images are prescreened

Most image type software has a "Resize" setting.

You dont say what you have, so I would look in the Help section of what you use.

steps,

With the image open, click onto 'image' on the tool bar and then click on 'image size'.

Sized in 'pixels', you need to choose 350 on the longest axis of your pic.

I hope that this helps.

"A picture says a thousand words", and certainly brightens up the pages here on the forum.

There are 1 or 2 probs posting pictures at the moment. The pictures won't work if you try to send them to the FW server. You have to put them on your own web space and link to them.

If anyone's having probs or doesn't have there own webspace then e-mail your pic to me rob@twfinternet.com and I'll put it on a server and give you the address of it to use.
