Singy are you sure that's a crucian and not a hybrid..?
I'd expect a true crucian (hated in France!) to be more golden in colour.
Still, a lovely fish!

Scale count is dead on, Dorsal is a bit iffy, seems too straight. Colour deffo strange but that might just be down to the water. Something about its head dont look right either. I'm saying Hybrid.

Wierd things indeed. The french called them Carassins. I did some research and they are apparently a true Carassius, though not Carassius carassius, this fish is a Carassius Auratus. The original wild European form of the goldfish. Pretty wide spread across Europe apparently.
This fish was nothing like Their shy biting UK cousins. This fish took a double 22mm halibut on a size 1/0 penetrator 
I think the common name is the Giebel carp???
