Thanks for the nice comments lads, the fish in this Loch really are stunning, long, lean and still growing steadily in length which has been nice to watch over the years and should be interesting in years to come !
Rigmaster
The camera is a Canon G5 which is great for fishing as it's compact and still has lots of features for being creative but the best thing is the flip round screen for self take shots which this one is.
The fish on this shot is slightly out of focus which is a shame and you would get better results with a decent digital SLR but if keeping your kit light is an issue then the G5 is great.
Cheers
Saul

its hard to explain some shots just dont look sharp.and night shots using the 420ex flash on auto gives over exposed shots, i have played about using manual settings and got better results.I just think that you need to play about with it for a fair bit to get the best out of it,when sticking it on fully auto mode thats when i get the poorest results.

shooting in RAW format will let you adjust exposure etc on computer later to help fine tune images, also select auto bracketing for night shots to help get the right exposure.
Also try the different metering settings as center weighted metering can produce better results with night shots of fish.
Just keep on playing around with it as the best thing with digital is that it's free to play.
Still hard to beat film though.
Cheers
